Connections, Followers and "Following"

Unique platform terms can get confusing really quickly. Whether you’re an experienced social media user or just getting started, here is a breakdown of the differences.

Follower

These are accounts that follow your account. We count followers in (2) ways

  1. Anyone that follows one of your feeds
  2. Anyone that clicked [[Follow]] on your profile

Following

These are accounts and feeds that you follow. We count you as “following” if you either

  1. Follow a feed
  2. Follow an account

Connections

These are accounts that you follow that are following you back. Connections are added automatically when you mutually follow each other. No connection “requests” can or will be needed.

What happens when you click “follow” on a profile?

When you click “follow” on a profile, you are automatically following all public feeds by that person so they all show up on your home feed. If you don’t want to follow all public feeds, you can visit the feeds you want to follow and click “+ follow” that specific feed. Alternatively, you can visit a feed you want to unfollow and click the outlined “follow” button.
